Mona Lisa Getting Older
Graphic designer Roberto Weigand and veteran photographer Alex Soletto were working together at the Brazilian weekly news magazine ISTOÉ when their editors assigned them a cover illustration for an article on aging. They carefully selected an elderly model who could replicate the pose and facial expression of the Mona Lisa. Mr. Soletto photographed her, while Mr. Weigand digitally deconstructed the image, isolating elements of her hands and face. He then seamlessly blended these elements onto a digital reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, creating a striking vision of what the Mona Lisa might have looked like in her later years. The entire process was completed within a single day—without the use of artificial intelligence.
